New-to-Texas blowout bar coming to Houston, Bryan-College Station

By Jen Para – Web producer, Houston Business Journal

A Beaumont native is bringing a new blowout bar to the Bayou City.

Britany Graham, also a graduate of Texas A&M University, signed a franchise agreement to develop three Cherry Blow Dry Bar locations in Houston and Bryan-College Station, according to a press release.

Graham is looking for spaces in The Woodlands, Vintage Park and Bryan-College Station, but has not signed leases yet, per the release. Her first location is expected to open in Bryan-College Station this winter, a spokeswoman said. The Woodlands location likely will open six months after that, followed by the Vintage Park location in another six months.

These will be among the salon’s first locations in Texas — following another franchisee's location under construction in Dallas — and will offer blowouts, hair extensions, makeup services and treatments.

“I’m excited to bring this amazing lifestyle and beauty concept to Texas,” Graham said in the release. “This concept has proven strong and is seeing rapid growth throughout the country. The women here will definitely appreciate our high-quality services, and we look forward to introducing our affordable, convenient membership model to local consumers.”

To open a franchise, a franchisee must, at minimum, possess $75,000 in liquid assets and have a minimum net worth of $350,000, according to Cherry Blow Dry Bar’s website. The initial franchise fee is $39,000, and the build-out costs range from $218,600 to $392,500, depending on the location chosen.

Originally launched in Australia in 2008 as Blow Dry Bar, Cherry Blow Dry Bar opened its first U.S. franchise in Florida in 2013, according to a press release published on Franchising.com. Brothers Steve Vicario and Fred Vicario purchased the franchise in 2015, per the salon’s website. Today, the concept has 11 locations in seven states, per the release.

“Between work, play and other activities, women want to look and feel good about their hair and makeup, but don’t always have the time to look just right for the occasion," Graham said. "Cherry Blow Dry Bar not only fulfills the need for an on-the-go, professionally styled look with consistent high-quality service, but offers it in an affordable and convenient membership model."
