Cherry Blow Dry Bar to expand Houston footprint

A New Jersey-based beauty salon franchise is expanding into Houston.

Cherry Blow Dry Bar plans to open eight Houston-area salons after signing three new franchisees.

Franchisees Tisha and James Adams plan to open a hair salon at 2162 Spring Steubner Road in Spring. They have committed to opening three additional locations over the next several years.

Shazia and Hamza Darugar are opening a salon in Cypress, whose location is yet to be announced. Joe and Vanessa Greenwood have yet to sign a lease, but are looking to open a salon in Sugar Land, Missouri City or Katy. Both couples plan to open additional locations.

Cherry Blow Dry Bar, launched in 2013, entered the greater Houston market last year with a salon in Bryan-College Station. The New Jersey-based hair salon franchise specializes in blowouts starting from $35. Consumers can choose from nine different hairstyles, including updos, braids and curls, as well as hair extensions, scalp massages and makeup services.

Cherry has 18 salons in eight states: Alabama Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. The chain is looking to expand rapidly and has 80 salons in the pipeline.
