Tips for Longer-Lasting, Gorgeous Lash Extensions

By admin

Whether you want longer, fuller lashes for your New Year plans, or just have it on your list to make your morning beauty routine more efficient in 2022, eyelash extensions are the way to go. As with any lash extensions, there is some maintenance needed to keep them looking their best in between refills. If you’re a first-time wearer or a lash veteran, you could always use some tips & tricks to keep your lashes looking as good as when you leave your Cherry Blow Dry Bar with a fresh set.

At Cherry, we offer Classic or Volume Lashes, or a Hybrid of both, to give you longer, voluminous lashes

Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours. Your Cherry lash expert will give you some recommendations for your new lashes before you leave the salon and this will be one of those. It’s important to not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours. This allows time for the adhesive to be completely set. Afterward, they can be wet and gently washed to avoid any buildup.

Sleep with care. When you get your new lash extensions, they need a little more care for the first 24-48 hours. Ultimately, sleeping on your back protects your lashes from rubbing on your bedding and causing lash fallout. However, if you’re a tummy sleeper, using a silk pillowcase will help to protect your lashes if there is any rubbing. The good news is that you should already be sleeping on a silk pillowcase to protect your hair from excessive rubbing to keep it healthy. So it’s a win-win!

Keep lash extensions clean. Your lash technician will let you know that after the initial dry period to let the adhesive set, your extensions should be cleaned at least every other day. If you have oily eyelids or are excessively active, you can safely clean them every day. You can use a special lash shampoo that is specially formulated to protect both your natural lashes and extensions and massage gently with a cleansing brush. Rinse, pat dry, and you’re ready for the day!

Use a spooley. To keep your lashes full and fluttery, gently brush your lashes with a spooley – or clean mascara brush – each morning. You don’t need to overbrush, just simply brush to keep the lashes separated and in good condition until it’s time for a refill. Just taking these few seconds will keep your lash extensions looking great!

Watch for skincare that contains oils. Although beauty oils can be great for your skin, be aware that they may not play nicely with lash extensions. For any of your favorite skincare products that contain oils, simply avoid the eye area – this includes oil-based makeup removers. Read the labels on your moisturizers, lotions, eye creams, spray toners, and even your under-eye concealers.

Go easy on the eyeliner. We’re not saying cut out eyeliner completely. We love thick liner and cat eyes as much as the next girl! But whenever you can, opt for a light application or no liner. Liner can be super hard to remove without rubbing your lashes, which can cause them to become fragile or fall out. If liner is a must, try not to apply it directly on the lash but rather just above the lash line. Don’t worry, you won’t see any unfilled area since your amazing new thick lashes will hide it! When you do remove your liner, use micellar water and a queue tip.

Give up the mascara. Investing in voluminous eyelash extensions will take the place of messy mascara. Mascara is very hard to rub off from your natural lashes, it will damage your extensions and adhesive quicker than letting the extensions take the place of mascara. Eyelash extensions look so beautiful on their own, leaving them mascara-free will highlight them the best! Consult your lash technician on which of our extensions are right for the look you want.

Don’t skip your refill. Generally, refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks but it all depends on your natural lashes and what type of lash extensions you are getting. Your Cherry lash artist will recommend and set up refill appointments to keep your lashes looking gorgeous. Your natural lashes have a shed cycle of about 4 weeks so it’s normal to notice a loss of density in your extensions by the 4-week mark.
